DePuy Incorporated, a Johnson & Johnson company, is one of the world's leading designers, manufacturers, and suppliers of orthopaedic devices, trauma products, implants. Depuy are known throughout the medical world for the development, manufacture, and marketing of innovative solutions of a wide range of devices for hips, knees, ankles, shoulders, wrists etc. Clark Door’s customer has environmentally controlled areas which require traffic to enter the area but minimising the door opening time is important to maintain the temperature and cleanliness. On one particular room the existing Clark Rapide has performed well for many years.

The door was used as an entrance to a temperature controlled warehouse storing sensitive pharmaceutical products. Due to increased volumes of traffic an additional entrance was required so the customer approached us to help.

Why Clark Door?

Depuy chose Clark Door’s Swiftsafe High Speed door designed especially for internal applications. Clark Door’s design incorporates the latest innovations on a Rapid roll door such as a wireless safety edge. On in-field trials this feature has proved to be a real winner as it eliminates the curly cable which can be a wear item that needs replacement after a period of time or can also be damaged by a fork lift on impact.

Clark door installed protection posts that also house safety devices for pedestrian traffic. The posts incorporate a push button for pedestrians to open the door. The photocells monitor pedestrian traffic through the door to ensure there are no obstructions in the doorway prior to closing.

Motion detector activation picks up pedestrian traffic, trolley traffic and fork lift traffic; this device can also be set to ignore cross traffic if required preventing unnecessary door activation (and temperature loss).

Breakaway Beam

The Clark Swiftsafe track system incorporates a bottom breakaway beam to prevent damage by over-zealous fork lift truck drivers. If impacted by a fork lift truck, the bottom bar automatically reengages itself on its next closing cycle.

Planned Maintenance

When asked about our Service Division the customer commented: “we did have some issues when a local contractor maintained the door but since we had Clark Door looking after it, there have been no problems, we are very happy.”
