New Concept Acoustic Door

Clark Door recently won an order to develop a brand new concept of hinged door to assist the client design an energy saving building that used fresh air inlets to cool the television studio with natural air ventilation whenever possible.

At the heart of the system lies Clark Door’s bespoke solution. After design and build of the prototype Clark Door required just two development iterations to meet the customer’s requirements. A mock-up was acoustically tested in an independent UKAS approved laboratory. The acoustic specification of 40dB Rw was exceeded with a design that reached 45dB Rw.

Centrally Hinged Pivoting Door

As well as meeting the acoustic requirements the doors needed to be able to open and close in a steady manner despite the varied air movement – hence the centrally hinged pivoting door design you can see in the above video link. Two concepts were created by Clark Door to ensure the customer’s health and safety and site space restriction requirements were addressed – horizontal and vertical pivoted doors.
