"Wide-Spanning" Hinged Fire Door

On the right hand side can be viewed a video of the factory test prior to installation of this special fire door on site. This was the culmination of a Research and Development project for our contract at the new Aberdeen Sports Facility. The design challenge was to come up with a 1hr fire-rated latchless hinged door, that would close automatically when signalled and would provide a maximum clearance in a sports facility corridor of up to a width of 4.2m.

Latchless Floor Spring Door

Minimising the deflection of the panel over such a large width was a major challenge but had to be overcome to successfully seal against the building structure, providing an effective barrier for smoke and fire.  Due to site space restrictions the Clark Door engineering team developed an unequal leaf design with floor spring closing, magnetic hold with fire alarm release.  You will see in our video on this page one of several doors supplied to this design in a works test to prove the design prior to installation on site.
