Clark Door attended the inaugural Talent Connect event in Carlisle city centre on Saturday 21st September, launched by John Stevenson MP.
The day-long event was designed to bring young people together in one place so that they can get inspired, discover high-profile career opportunities, take a different look at learning, and get involved in creating a bright future for themselves and for the City of Carlisle.
The town centre was split into four zones; the enterprise zone, careers zone, learning zone, and chill out zone. Throughout the day there was a host of interactive activities, demonstrations, and workshops to help young people open their eyes to the wide range of future employment opportunities available to them right here in Cumbria.
John Stevenson MP for Carlisle, said:
“This is a brilliant opportunity for young people to discover the fantastic career opportunities that are available to them locally, without having to move away from Carlisle. I am pleased to hear that there will be such a variety of workshops and activities offered throughout the day, which I hope will inspire the next generation.”
The Clark Door team were on hand to talk to young people about our successful apprenticeship programme, and the exciting career opportunities available in disciplines such as welding and fabrication, electrical engineering, mechanical engineering, design engineering, project engineering, and project management.
Visitors to the Clark Door stand were invited to try their hand at challenges such as assembling a pull switch, hand riveting and 3D CAD drawing.
