A key part of the Co-Op’s food operation is Co-operative Retail Logistics which specialises in the storage and primary distribution of chilled produce, frozen and ambient lines. With a large supply chain network Co-Op Retail Logistics handled in excess of 1.5 million pallets and picked just under 17 million cases in 2012. At the heart of Co-Op supply chain lie many Clark Coldstore doors.
Pictured here is one of the Clark cold store double leaf horizontal sliding doors which operates at a speed of 1.5m/s. This well insulated, fast opening, reliable door is ideal for the application shown. The bi-parting action of the door means that a door opening from the centre will be open as quickly as possible to ensure good throughput speed of approaching traffic; and minimum open time to reduce refrigerated air loss.
Co-op logistics are already very familiar with Clark Doors. Our customer commented, ‘The latest doors we had fitted were to replace some very old Clark Doors on site which had become uneconomical to repair.
The Clark cold store sliding doors are designed to last in a harsh environment. We are proud of the long-term relationships we have with our customers. Clark Door provide maintenance or repairs when our customers request it; our customer at the Co-op installation recently commented:
‘The cold store doors are very good and reliable and do take a lot of impact. When the door panels do get damaged because of the nature of their construction, I have found them repairable on site by our own engineers. Unfortunately for Clark Door, this does mean we can make the panels last a lot longer.’
